As the grandson of European immigrants, Randall Jackson is living the epitome of the American dream. From humble beginnings, his father an auto-mechanic and his mother a hairdresser, honesty and a strong Midwestern work ethic were embedded in Jackson at an early age. As Chief Executive Officer of Residential Cruise Line, LTD, his life has come full circle, as he has pursued his passions and turned them into successful endeavors.
Understanding that an education is the foundation for any career, Jackson earned an Aircraft Mechanics License along with his commercial pilot rating at the University of Illinois in 1976. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Technology from Illinois State University. After relocating from Illinois to Pensacola, Florida, Jackson received his commission as an ensign in the U.S. Navy. During his initial tour of duty he earned his Naval Aviator Wings. His eight-year career with U.S. Navy included a tour of duty at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba as a member of the A-4 Squadron and then as a U.S. Navy Pilot Recruiter in Los Angeles, California.
After Jackson met his wife, Melodie, a student at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, they bought and lived on a 40-foot ketch rig sailboat in Marina Del Rey, CA. Jackson left the U.S. Navy soon after he and his wife were transferred by Hughes Helicopters to Mesa, Arizona.
While working for Continental Airlines as a pilot, Jackson opened his Arizona-based real estate development company in 1985. Now in business for 20 years, Jackson Properties is a production homebuilder, master-planned community developer, pool builder and has its own mortgage company.
Even though he lives in the desert, his love of the ocean and yachting has never diminished. He has built and imported many luxury motor yachts from Southeast Asia, as well as owned Shelter Cove Yachts in San Diego, California. During a Christmas sailing cruise through the straits of Magellan with his wife and their two daughters, Tanina and Marin, Jackson envisioned the need for a luxurious condominium ship.
His love for cruising the world, 20 years in the real estate development industry and thousands of hours spent in the flight deck is the vital combination of expertise needed to develop the team of experts to design, build and launch the Magellan – the ultimate luxury residential cruise ship.
